Sassy Stems

Here are 6 cards I have made this week with the SU set Sassy Stems.

First is with PTI Pink Patterns paper & SU blush blossom. I just used my SU markers & a little pearl bling for the flower centers. The water is chalked on-I used ballet blue.

I cased this one from NancyK on Splitcoaststampers-changed it a little by not adding the ribbon she had or the brads. It is make with PTI white, 2 little scraps of white run thru the cuttlebug-Birds & Swirls & Floral Fantasy embossing folders. The stamped image was layered on Barely Banana & Pacific Point (last years In Color) SU paper. Used markers again to color in.

I love how this one turned out. Rose Red & Regal Rose SU paper is used. The punch is the Round tab punch & ribbon I've had for a long time. Again, more pearl bling for the flower centers.

I used Taken with Teal & Summer Sun SU paper on this one-simple layering but I liked how it turned out. The background stamp is Cheesecloth.

My favorite color comb's lately-SU Chocolate Chip & PTI Ocean Tides. Patterned paper is something I accumulated last year-great coordination with these 2 colors. And some yellow glass colored bling.

Last, bot not least, a Thank you card. Paper is Marigold Morning (SU In Color), Choc Chip & Vanilla. Background stamp used is Weathered.

Success!!

My first adventure into yeast rolls turned out much better than I thought it would. The dough actually rose!
This is the dough just before I punched it down & formed it into little knots of yumminess (is that a word??)

Going into the oven......

and done!

Brushed on a little melted butter, broke it open-yes it's done inside & popped into my mouth-delish!!

Mastering yeast

Did that catch your attention???  I have decided that I will no longer be afraid of yeast-that's right-yeast. As in what all those sweet delectable desserts are made of. And those yummy rolls and breads. My mom worked in our school cafeteria for a few years & her oatmeal rolls were a huge hit not only with the other school kids but with us as well. I have always been intimidated by any recipe that calls for yeast & have never attempted using. it. THIS YEAR WILL BE DIFFERENT!!!! I found a pretty simple recipe for whole wheat yeast rolls, bought my yeast packets & whole wheat flour and this morning mixed up my first batch. I think they may actually turn out ok!!!  Right now they are rising -here is a picture. If you don't see another mention today, you'll know it didn't go so well. Wish me luck!!

Cricut Snowmen

I just started playing with the Cricut cart I received for Christmas-Snowmen. It is really cute-10 different posed snowmen with 10 outfits. I wanted to use some for children's birthday cards-really happy with they way they turned out.

This first one is a little snowlady-I used PTI white for the base, some patterend pink paper ^& SU Pretty in Pink. Added a little glitz with Cotton Candy Stickles. Background paper is from the Debbie Mumm stack & then I used the MS snowflake punch.

I think this one is my favorite-loved how it turned out with the bird on it. Just used some scraps of blue & green I thought went together nicely, used distressed denim Stickles, background is glitter paper-hand cut
the snow pile- and used the MS punches again for the snowflakes. The inside says " A little birdie told me it was your birthday"

and here is a close up on an angle

I think I'll save this one for next years holidays-he seems to be looking at the moon-love how he looks up.

and then we have juggling snowman. I put this on the card and it just seemed to plain-lightbulb went off & he became a juggling snowman-just used the biggest handheld circle punch I had and made some snowballs out of glitter paper scraps.

And the last one-tired little snowman sitting in the snow.

Get Well cards

With the cold & flu season upon us, I thought I had better get some get well cards done. These are from one of my favorite sets from SU-Farm Fever-I just love this little pig!

The image was stamped on confettie cream paper with black ink then I used my SU markers-old Olive, Barely Banana & Blush Blossom on the quilt & pillow. The bed is colored in with More Mustard & the dirt is Creamy Caramel. I use Bordering Blue for the bucket and Pretty in Pink for the piggy. The paper is a Hostess gift I rec'd 2 years ago but it is the Mustard tone. Image was layered on Old Olive.

And the second one is layered on Blush Blossom & Bashful blue. The paper is retired - Spring Showers. Colored in image with markers again-Barely Banana & Bashful Blue.

And the last one is this cute little sheep that has been knocked off  his feet. I used more of that hostess paper pack-in Night of Navy. Image was stamped on white with Basic Gray then colored in with Sahara Sand marker. Image was then layered on Basic Gray & Black. It just came to me-I could have used flower soft on his head! Maybe next time.

Back to the daily grind

Well, back to the regular week schedule now that the holidays are over with-lots of cold, snow & wind in upstate New York this weekend and it looks like the whole week will be more of the same. Who in Bermuda wants to trade houses for a week????

Birthday Butterfly

Not so thrilled with how this one came out-I probably should not have used the marker on the butterfly. I used SU Certainly Celery, Bermuda Bay & Cool Caribean (from older in colors). Ink is Bermuda Bay for the sentiment & Cool Caribbean for the butterfly. I did the faux stitching around the mat and tiny pearls on parts of the butterfly. The flowers were sprayed with glimmer mist weeks ago-I thought I would have to do some while I was making the card and while I was looking for my plain white flowers found these-perfect match! Placed a larger pearl in the center.

Sympathy with butterfly kisses

Plain sympathy card-love this paper with the teal, sage & chocolate color combo's. I used PTI ocean tides paper, patterned paper from last year(shared with Jewel again, I think). The ink is SU suddenly sage since I don't yet have any of the PTI ink. Sentiment is stamped with choc chip. I probably should have sponged some choc around the sentiment-too late now! Eucalyptus stickles to match the sparkly on the paper.

Paisley Butterfly

This is a birthday card made with PTI Butterfly Kisses-you can't really see the phrase but it is stamped with Choc Chip on Choc Chip paper-see the 2nd picture for the close up. I used the corner rounder on the left side. The backround is paisleys from the stamp set stamped on Pretty in Pink with Choc Chip, the butterfly is stamped with Choc Chip and I used the Pretty in Pink marker to fill in some of the circles. Used the MS butterfly punch again & fruit punch stickles.

Different twist to open

I was playing with patterned paper scraps & thought wouldn't it be different to "open" the card on the front. So I scored the left side at 1/4" and stamped the greeting & the butterfly image under the patterend paper. I also used the MS butterfly punch to add a little dimension to the inside. After I did that I thought the front was plain so I punched 3 butterflys from Ruby Red then decided to punch another layer of butterfles from the scraps of patterened paper. The base is Cameo Coral, patterned paper (I have had it at least a year but don't remember where I got it-probably a share with my sister). Ink is Ruby Red-and I used Crystal stickles.

Simple layout

This was made with Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Barely Banana paper-the ink is Regal Rose and I used the So Saffron as flower centers on the little daisy border.  And of course, fruit punch stickles around the edges of the layered butterfly.

Butterfly Kisses cards

My little sister gave me the PTI stamp set Butterfly Kisses for christmas along with the 2008 asst paper pack. This week I have been playing with both & just love this stamp set. I made some birthday, thank you and blank cards. I'll post them one at a time with the info on the supplies I used.

Sweetie & her Christmas toy
